What's going on in the Women's Abuse World?????

I received a phone call from my Ex-Boss this passed Monday evening,asking me if I would allow him to give my number to the Director (Dennis) of the Women and Children in Crisis Center in Provo. Gene said he was trying to get a hold of me (not in that way....), and said he would give him the number, only if I gave permission. I told him yes, and as of late, I haven't heard from him.

Anyway, I'm wondering what this fellow wants with me. I figure four possiblities. By the way, he knows me and I have worked with him in the past.....(Abused Women's need for Housing)

1. He wants me to offer me a job to work at the WCIC Center. (Probably couldn't offer me enough money to go back to work. I'm loving my retirement and time spent with Kay and My grandkids)

2. He wants me to speak at the Abused Women's Conference (which is always in October.) I'll decline this one, because I have already spoken at the Abused Women's Night Vigil a few years ago.

3. He wants to have me as a Board Commissioner for the Center. (The commissioners oversee the dealings with the Center and how they use their money) If it works like the Housing Authority Board, you meet once every month to discuss the center's issues; You are sent to training on different issues (paid for by the Center) and doesn't require much of any brains (because why would they ask me????). This is usually volunteer work, but you get stipends for gas to travel to and from the meetings.

4. He's checking with me to see if I would want to be a Women's abuse advocate with the Police Dept. I believe they suggest people to the Police Dept. and then you go through some training. You're not a police officer, but go (at all hours of the day and night) when they have calls of spousal abuse and deal with the women who have been abused.

I'm curiously still awaiting his call. Joe thinks I should call and find out what it's about. I'm not that anxious to find out. Gene said he'd better leave telling me up to Dennis and not impose on him to tell me. So, I'll let you know what's happening.....(since nothing is happening lately)...... If I know Gene, he probably submitted my name for the position of Board Commissioner just because I've been there and done that with this type of work........
